The X Games brand is entering a new phase of global growth, and the latest piece of that puzzle is the appointment of Steve Rogers as chief operating officer. Rogers, a seasoned executive with more than fifteen years of experience in live-event production, will join the organization at a time when the league is extending its footprint across continents and adding a winter chapter to the inaugural summer season.
Jeremy Bloom, CEO of X Games, emphasized that the brand is benefiting from fresh ownership groups, new team entrants, and an expanding roster of sponsors. With these dynamics in motion, Bloom said the company needed a leader who could oversee complex, multinational operations and maintain the high-energy spirit that defines action sports. Rogers’ background fits that brief perfectly, and his role is expected to shape the next era of the MoonPay X Games League (XGL) worldwide.
Steve Rogers’ action-sports pedigree
Before stepping into the X Games’ executive suite, Rogers spent almost a decade with Nitro Circus where he directed the global touring schedule for flagship properties such as Nitro world gamesNitro Rallycross and Street League Skateboarding. His tenure at Nitro saw the launch of dozens of live shows in North America, Europe, and Asia, giving him hands-on experience with the logistical and commercial challenges of large-scale action-sports events. Prior to that, Rogers served as chief operating officer of World Supercross overseeing the day-to-day management of an international motocross championship.
Rogers also holds a law degree, a credential that adds a layer of commercial and contractual expertise to his operational skill set. This combination of legal knowledge and on-the-ground event management has allowed him to negotiate venue agreements, secure sponsorships, and navigate regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions. In interviews, Rogers has highlighted his commitment to delivering “incredible experiences for athletes and fans,” a mantra that aligns with X Games’ emphasis on spectacle and athlete-centered competition.
X Games’ global expansion and the MoonPay X Games League
The MoonPay X Games League debuted its inaugural Summer Season in 2026, featuring eight clubs—four representing summer disciplines and four slated for the upcoming winter program in 2027. The league’s structure is a departure from the traditional stand-alone X Games events; it introduces a team-based, co-ed format that runs year-round, creating continuous storylines and deeper engagement for audiences across broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms. By pairing geographic identity with elite athletic talent, the XGL aims to broaden regional connections while offering athletes more stable compensation beyond single-event prize money.
Broadcast partners for the league include ABC, ESPN, ESPN+, Disney+, Roku Sports Channel, the X Games YouTube channel, and the Kick platform. This multi-platform distribution reflects the brand’s strategy to reach millions of fans worldwide through both traditional television and emerging streaming services. With Rogers now overseeing operations, X Games expects smoother coordination of international venues, tighter integration of sponsor activations, and a more efficient rollout of the winter season next year.
Rogers expressed enthusiasm about returning to the action-sports arena at this pivotal moment, describing X Games as “one of the most iconic brands in the space” and noting that the transition to a global league “creates enormous potential for its future.” His appointment signals a clear intention from X Games and its private-equity owner, MSP Sports Capital to cement the league’s position as a year-round destination for athletes, fans, and commercial partners alike.
